In particular, international graduate student enrollment, which began to rise in the early ����s, now accounts for more than ��% of all international students in the medical and dental sciences fields. Since ����, the ratio of Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship students has remained higher than privately funded students. However, in recent years, the number of privately funded students, including students with foreign government scholarships, has been increasing. Further enhancement of the international student learning environment is expected to attract even more privately funded students.Since ����, the Graduate School of Dentistry has offered a special program for education and research in English as a part of the “Special Program that Conducts Priority Placements for MEXT Scholarship Students(Graduate Level)” funded by the Japanese Government Scholarship.Based on the expertise/experience of five previous programs, held consecutively from AY ���� to ����, that focused on developing leadership and networking skills in dentistry and oral sciences this program is expected to attract promising young minds from across the globe.International student acceptance numbers: � Japanese Government (MEXT)Scholarship students, � privately funded students (applicants must be nationals of a country with which Japan has diplomatic relations)The program awards doctoral degrees when the graduate school approves the student’s dissertation (research results) achieved in the program.
