In particular, international graduate student enrollment, which began to rise in the early 1990s, now accounts for more than 90% of all international students in the medical and dental sciences fields. Since 1998, the ratio of Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship students has remained higher than privately funded students. However, in recent years, the number of privately funded students, including students with foreign government scholarships, has been increasing. Further enhancement of the international student learning environment is expected to attract even more privately funded students.Since 1998, the Graduate School of Dentistry has offered a special program for education and research in English as a part of the “Special Program that Conducts Priority Placements for MEXT Scholarship Students(Graduate Level)” funded by the Japanese Government Scholarship.Based on the expertise/experience of five previous programs, held consecutively from AY 1998 to 2024, that focused on developing leadership and networking skills in dentistry and oral sciences this program is expected to attract promising young minds from across the globe.International student acceptance numbers: 8 Japanese Government (MEXT)Scholarship students, 8 privately funded students (applicants must be nationals of a country with which Japan has diplomatic relations)The program awards doctoral degrees when the graduate school approves the student’s dissertation (research results) achieved in the program. In addition to research, the program features the following course options:Elective basic courses1. Clinical Dental Training Course2. Dental Alliance Training Course3. Community Dental Health Training Course4. Dental Education Training CourseApplied elective courses1. Global Clinical Expert Course2. Global Dental Data Sciences Course Offering these special programs conducted in English has led to the internationalization of the graduate school and to a wider adoption of communication in English on campus.歯学 系留学生 数は1 9 8 0 年 初 頭に比 較すると約10 倍に増 加しています。特に大学院で学ぶ留学生は1 9 9 0年 初 頭から増 加し始め、現在では医歯学 系 全 留学生数の9割以上を占めています。1998年を境に国費留学生の割 合 が 私 費留学生より高い傾 向が 続いていましたが、近 年は外 国政 府 派 遣留学生を含む私 費留学生数が増加してきました。今後も留学生の教育環境のさらなる充実を図り、私費留学生の増加が期待されます。大学 院（歯 学 系）では、1 9 9 8 年度より「国費 外 国 人留学生（研究留学生）の優先配置を行う特別プログラム」の一環とし、日本政 府 奨学金により、英語を使 用し教育研究を行う特別プログラムを提供してきました。歯学国際大学院コース（AY1998-2006）、先端口腔科学国 際プログラム（AY 2 0 07-1 2）、歯 科 医学グローバルリーダー養成プログラム（AY2013-17）、TMDU型歯科医学グローバルネットワーク展開人材育成プログラム(AY2018-20)、歯科医学グローバルリーダーシップキャンパス（AY2021-24）の経験を踏まえて実施しています。募集人員：国費留学生8人、私費留学生8人（国籍：日本と国交を有する国の者）博士課程プログラムにてまとめた学位申請論文(研究成果)を本研究科が認めたとき、学位が授与されます。研究以外にも以下のコースを選択できることが特徴です。【ベーシックコース】1.クリニカルデンタル研修コース2.デンタルアライアンス研修コース3.コミュニティデンタルヘルス研修コース4.デンタルエデュケーション研修コース【アドバンスドコース】1.グローバルクリニカルエキスパートコース2.グローバルデンタルデータサイエンスコース このような英語特別プログラムの提供が、大学院国際化・英語化にもつながっています。Global Program for Dentistry and Dental Medicine in India and ASEAN (From AY 2025)
