7号館リニューアル －新たな学びのステージへ－Renovation of Building 7 - A New Stage for Dental Education -Teaching Professor Jun Tsuruta 東 京 科 学 大 学 歯 学 部では、2 0 24 年度に、歯 学 科 学 生 が主に使 用する7号館（教 育棟）の大 規 模 改修を実 施しました。このリニューアルは 単なる施 設の刷 新にとどまらず、歯学 教育DXの加 速 化 の 推 進、新たな 歯 学 教 育ニーズ（生 涯 教 育）への対応 、社 会との 共 創という３つの 活 動を可 能とし 、「 デンタル・イノベーション・コモンズ」の実現に向けた確かな一歩となりました 。従 来 の 階 段 教 室 形 式 では 机と椅 子が 固 定されていました が 、アクティブラーニング 型 授 業を推 進 するために 、今 回の改修では、講 義 室３（2階）を除くすべての 教 室について床 をフラット化し 、机や椅 子 を自由に配 置できる仕 様 、どの 壁 面でもプロジェクターによる映 像 投 影 が 可能 な 仕 様としました。これにより、スクール形式の授 業に加え、グループディスカッションや討 論 型 授 業など、アクティブラーニングを中心とした多様な 授 業 展 開 が 可能になりました。また、遠隔 授 業と 対 面 授 業 を 組 み 合 わ せ た ハイフレックス 型 授 業（登校・遠 隔 同 時 授 業）はもちろん、学 生一人ひとりの学びのスタイルに応じた多様な学修 機 会を、これまで以 上に柔軟に提 供 できる環 境 が 整いました 。歯 学 系 臨 床 手 技 教 育を行う実習室については、実習環 境の向上、学 習効 率の向上を目指しました。ヒト型 患者ロボットのシミュレーターを含むDX 教育の 拡 充 や 、実 習 室２における実 習 室 の 集 約と少人 数 臨 床手 技ハンズオン 授 業を可 能とする整 備 など を行なっています 。改 修 にあたっては 、共 用 施 設としての 汎 用 性を高めることも重 視しました。教 室スペースの床のフラット化により、イベントやセミナー、学内 外 の連 携活 動の活用が 可能となり、生 涯 教 育を見 据えた学 修 基 盤 環 境の強 化にもつながっています 。また 、仮 想 現 実（ V R ）を応 用した歯 科 診 療 教 育シミュレーター機 器の利用推 進を目指し、今 回の改修に合わせ、ヘルスケア 教 育機 構スキルスラボⅡを１号館 から7号館に移 転し、歯学系教育の集 約も図りました。なお 、改 修 にあたり 、各 講 義 室の 教卓や 、学 生ラウンジに 新たに設置された机・椅子などは、東 京科 学大学歯 科同窓会のご寄付により整 備されました。卒業 生からの温かい支援を受け、学生がより快 適な環 境 で学び、交 流を深めることができる場がさらに充実しました。歯学部カリキュラム委員長 鶴田 潤09Chair of Curriculum Committee, Faculty of Dentistry In ����, the Faculty of Dentistry at Science Tokyo undertook a major renovation of Building �, which serves as a central hub for dental students with lecture rooms and practical training facilities. This refurbishment aimed to create a flexible and future-oriented learning environment and to support three activities: promoting the digital transformation of dental education, responding to emerging needs (lifelong learning), and achieving co-creation with society (fostering clinician scientists). This marked a significant step toward realizing our “Dental Innovation Commons” initiative.Previously, most classrooms in Building � had a sloped, auditorium-style layout with fixed desks and chairs, limiting the flexibility of class formats. All classrooms and demonstration rooms—except for Lecture Room � on the second floor—have been converted to flat-floor designs. The new layout allows desks and chairs to be rearranged freely, enabling us to offer various class styles such as traditional lectures, group discussions, and debate-based sessions focusing on active learning. In addition, white walls have been installed throughout the classrooms to enable projection from any position. Classrooms were designed in a variety of configurations to accommodate different educational settings, from large lectures to small group work and independent study.The recent renovation also enhanced the Institute’s educational environment to support HyFlex c l a s s e s ( f a c e - t o - f a c e a n d l i v e s t r e a m e d c l a s s e s o c c u r r i n g simultaneously). The updated environment now allows for more flexible and personalized learning opportunities that suit each student’s learning style.For the practical training rooms used for dental clinical skills education, we aimed to improve the training environment and learning efficiency. As part of expanding of DX education, including robot patient simulators, we have consolidated two practical training rooms into Practical Training Room � and made improvements to enable small-group hands-on clinical skills classes.Another focus of the renovation was to improve the multi-purpose functionality of shared spaces. The flat-floor design has transformed classrooms into highly flexible spaces that can also be used for events, seminars, and collaborative activities both within and outside the Institute. These improvements also strengthen the foundation for lifelong learning. At the same time, Skills Lab II, a simulation lab for dental training utilizing virtual reality (VR), was relocated from Building � to Building �, further centralizing dental education functions.The Dental Alumni Association, Institute of Science Tokyo generously donated the lecterns in each classroom and new tables and chairs in the renovated student lounge.
